Diwali Festival

27th October 2013 – Murdoch University

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe continued its week of performances at the Diwali Festival – Multicultural Fair, at Murdoch University. This unique event celebrates the cultural diversity of India.

The Diwali Festival featured many international food stalls, and international acts. The acts included Indian Dancing, Brazilian Dancing, and of the course the Lion Dance. With the beautiful weather, the event was jam packed with people.

The Lion Dance began with the lions starting the performance on the stage, then the lions making its way down to the audience to interact with them. The Children very much enjoyed the playfulness of the lions.

The show was very much enjoyed by all, in which the audience gave a long applause at the end of the performance.

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe will like to thank all the organisers of the Diwali festival for their hospitality and for allowing us to be part of this wonderful event.


Pasar Malam

25th October 2013 – Curtin University

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe performed at the Pasar Malam (night market) at Curtin University. The Pasar Malam event is a celebration of International food, with stallholders and entertainment from around the globe, put together to finish off Multicultural Week.

The event also had a number of entertaining acts, featured on 2 different stages. The CCC Lion Dance Troupe had the pleasure of performing at both stages entertaining all watching. Both performances drew a large audience, with audiences enjoying every part of the performance.

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe will like to thank all the organisers of the Pasar Malam  for the great hospitality they shown us on the night. We hope to perform for you guys again at the next Pasar Malam.

Tommy and Estelle’s Tea Wedding Ceremony

19th October 2013 – Lum Residence

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe had the great pleasure of performing at Tommy and Estelle’s Wedding Tea Ceremony.

All the guests were at the Lum residence awaiting the arrival of the bridal party. Once the bridal party arrived, and the bride and groom walked out of the car, the instruments began to play and the 2 lions made their way to greet the Bridge and Groom. Once greeted the lions walked the bride and groom to the front of the residence, and then walked back to the middle of the drive way where they put on a performance for everyone. The lions presented the newlyweds with a good luck scroll, followed by presenting the oranges, and the throwing of the lettuce.

It began to rain during the performance, however this didn’t affect the performance one bit as the lions and instrument band continued the performance in the rain.

When the performance finished, the newlyweds then lite the firecrackers to start the weekend wedding celebrations.

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe would like to wish Tommy and Estelle everlasting love and success in their marriage. May your new lives be fill with great happiness and joy.



Tien and Evan’s Wedding

6th October 2013 – Xian Tia Di Restaurant, Northbridge

To start the beginning of the wedding season, the Chinese Community Centre (CCC) Lion Dance Troupe performed at the wedding of Tien and Evan at Xian Tia Di Chinese Restaurant in Northbridge.

When all the guests arrived and were seated, loud firecrackers were light outside, with 2 lions entering the restaurant. The 2 lions lead the bride and groom to the restaurant and to the bridal table.

Once the bride and groom were seated, the lions began their performance with displays of dance movements and acrobatics. After blessing the bride and groom, the lions interacted with the audience.

The lions then presented the bride and groom with a good luck scroll in blessing the marriage. Once the performance finished, the members of the CCC Lion Dance troupe congratulated the bride and groom.

The CCC Lion Dance troupe will love to wish the newlyweds all the best in their new lives together.
