15th May 2012 –Northbridge Chinese Restaurant

The President of the Chinese Community Centre (CCC) and founder of the CCC Lion Dance Troupe, John Hsu celebrated his 67th birthday at Northbridge Chinese Restaurant on the 15th of May. Over 200 guests, combination of friends and family, came and celebrated with John on this special night.

The night featured the dotting ceremony of 2 new lions that were donated by Good Fortune Roast Duck Restaurant, and by the CCC Youth Association. After the dotting of the 2 new lions, a third lion came into the restaurant to begin the 3 lion dance performance for John Hsu. 3 lions all presented John Hsu with a good luck scroll for his birthday.

To mark this night extra special, an awards ceremony was held where golden plaques were given to the sponsors of the CCC Lion Dance Troupe, John Hsu, and the members of the CCC Lion Dance Troupe. The head coach of the CCC Lion Dance Troupe, Stephen Hsu, gave a speech to the guests about the CCC Lion Dance Troupe. Stephen advised the guests of all the hard work each of the members have contributed towards the group and ultimately towards the art of lion dance. He also mentioned that it is because of all the members hard work that the group is where it is today. Stephen also thanked and acknowledged John Hsu, the troupes sponsors, and the Masters of their brother groups, Sifu Tsui from 7 Star Praying Mantis, and Sifu Luong from Kwarn Yee Tong. To finish the speech, Stephen personally thanked all the members of the CCC Lion Dance Troupe for all their efforts and hard work. Stephen then presented each of the members with a gold plaque in recognition of their contributions.

The rest of the night was entertained with Karaoke, and of course the traditional Yum Sings. From us all from the CCC Lion Dance Troupe, we would love to wish our founder, John Hsu, a happy 67th Birthday. May your life continue in good health and prosperity.

KULCHA on Swan – Altone Comes Alive!

5th May 2012 – Altone Park Recreation Centre

It was the annual Altone Comes Alive concert on the 5th of May 2012, and the CCC once again performed for the concert for its third straight year.

The event this year featured more international food stalls as well as international cultural performances such as the lion dance.

There were fears that the wet weather conditions might affect the concert, but fortunately the weather cleared up allowing the event to run successfully. The Lion Dance performance was the last performance of the event. The performance saw the lions start their performance on stage, then moving into the crowd and interacting with the audience. The performance then concluded with a loud firecracker display.

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe will like to thank the team at KULCHA for organising the event and allowing us to be apart of this great event.
