Australia’s Got Talent – Live Audition round

8th June 2013 – Perth Convention Centre

In early April, the CCC Lion Dance Troupe was invited by Australia’s Got talent to audition for the show. With over hundreds of participants auditioning for the show, the CCC Lion Dance troupe was successful  in making it through to the live audition round. The live audition round is where the act will be taped in front of a live audience and judges.

During the long day on the 8th of June, the CCC Lion Dance troupe did a number of interviews, promotional videos, and of course the lion dance performance in front of the live audience and judges.

The performance was highly enjoyed by the live audience. Even though the judges found the performance to be energetic and entertaining, unfortunately they didn’t feel that lion dance was enough to proceed to the next round.

When the CCC Lion Dance troupe initially auditioned for the show, they had 3 main goals. To give lion dance, and ultimately, the Chinese culture more exposure in Australia; To let Australia know that Lion Dance is an art that promotes culture and fitness; and to show Australia our groups style of lion dance and in doing so, representing all lion dance groups around the world.

Even though we didn’t make it to the next round, the CCC Lion Dance truly believes they have achieved their goals. The CCC Lion Dance Troupe gained great experiences from the show and is truly proud, with the art of lion dance, they were able to make it to this stage of the competition.

One thing the CCC Lion Dance is certain of, Australia will now know what Lion Dance is and will appreciate this Cultural Chinese art.
