2011 Fremantle Dockers Gala Dinner Auction

8th of June 2011 – Burswood Grand Ballroom

The Chinese Community Centre Lion Dance Troupe was invited to perform at the 2011 Fremantle Dockers Gala Dinner Auction.

The theme of the dinner auction was “Around the World”, where the guests were taken on a ride from Perth to Shanghai, to New York and to Paris. On arriving at each destination, the guests were served with foods from the different cultural destinations as well as entertainment. Entertainment included the Chinese Lion Dance, dances, and Burlesque.

The rest of the evening allowed guests to bid on the items that were available for auction. All proceeds from the auction went towards the Fremantle Dockers Community Goals Program, a program that assists with the WA community such as junior football clubs, primary schools, and charity partners such as the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

The Chinese Community Centre Lion Dance Troupes Lion dance performance was the opening act of the night. 6 Lions entered the Grand ballroom and ran on to the stage where they gave a performance that entertained all the guests and the members of the Fremantle Dockers Football Club.

Quite a few members of the Chinese Community Centre Lion Dance Troupe are huge fans of the Fremantle Dockers, so it was a great pleasure for the whole group to perform for the football club. After the performance members of the Chinese Community Centre Lion Dance Troupe had the great opportunity to meet the players and have their jerseys signed by the players.  The Chinese Community Centre Lion Dance Troupe received many great reviews of their performance from the Fremantle Dockers players, sponsors of the event, and all the guests of evening.

The Chinese Community Centre Lion Dance Troupe will like to thank the events coordinator of the Fremantle Dockers, Kellie Black, for allowing the troupe to have the opportunity and fun to perform for the Fremantle Dockers and its guests, the warm hospitality throughout the evening, and arranging for the members of the troupe to meet the players of the Football Club.
