Toodyay Food Festival

7th of August 2010 – Duidgee Park, Toodyay

The Chinese Community Centre (CCC) Lion Dance Troupe once again had the delighted pleasure to perform at the Toodyay Festival of Food. The Toodyay’s Festival of Food was held in conjunction with the Avon Descent.

The event featured cuisines from all around the world, complemented by a multicultural themed entertainment program. Entertainment included Scottish Highland dancers, blue bands, and the Chinese Lion Dance. There were also activities on the day that included pony rides and face painting. With all this entertainment and activities, the audience was also able to enjoy all the action of the Avon Descent.

The Troupe’s performance featured 2 twin red lions, in which the lions interacted with the members of the audience, demonstrating their acrobatic jumps. The performance was very much enjoyed by all.

There was a great attendance of the festival, with a highly increased number from the previous year. The CCC would like to thank Michael Elezovich, and the Shire of Toodyay for the invitation to perform at this event. We definitely look forward to the festival yet again next year.

Sam Panatosi Memorial

1st August 2010 – Perth Town Hall

On this day, a memorial was held to celebrate the life and achievement of Sam Panatosi, who passed away in April of this year. Many attended the memorial, with a number of ethnic group leaders sharing their fond memories of Sam.

On such occassion a lion dance is not performed, but Sam’s wife requested if the Chinese Community Centre (CCC) Lion Dance Troupe can perform the lion dance, as it was something Sam always enjoyed.

As a token of respect, the CCC Lion Dance Troupe performed the lion dance, finishing the performance with a group bow to a potrait of Sam.

The CCC Lion Dance Troupe would like to thank Mrs Panatosi for the invitation of performing the tribute to Sam. But mainly we will like to thank Sam for everything he has done not only for the Chinese Community Centre, but also for the wider ethnic community. Thank you Sam.
